Björn Persson is a wildlife/conservation photographer living in Tyresö, Sweden. For several years he has traveled around Africa in search of adventure and spectacular images. His love for this continent beautiful animals and people is reflected in his pictures.

Several of them have been published in National Geographic amongst others. In 2015 he was nominated for The Wildlife Photographer of the Year by BBC and British Natural History Museum. In 2016 he won second prize at the Sony World Photography Awards. This year his work was published in a photo book including Africa Geographic’s best pictures. He also writes articles for various wildlife magazines.

Besides photography Björn Persson has great commitment to the endangered species situation. His passion and care for Africa’s wildlife has always been strong, but started for real when he trained in wildlife management and worked with anti-poaching in South Africa. It was then when he discovered in which critical condition the African wildlife is in.

In an effort to contribute to a change Bjorn decided to start using his images as a weapon against poaching. Nowadays, a part of the profit of his sold work supports various wildlife organizations and projects in Africa.

What distinguishes Bjorn images is their beautiful and almost poetic expression. The world does not change by more pictures of cut-off rhino horns, he thinks. Through his photos, he wants to pay tribute to these beautiful creatures in their magnificent surroundings, and thus spread the desire and commitment of their threatened situation.
