Francesco Capello

Francesco Capello was born in Chivasso (TO) on 11th February, 1944.
After the maturità artistica ( Advanced Level or high school graduation, with specialization in Art), he gradueted at the Academy of Belle Arts in Turin, where he gained a diploma and was awarded the prize reserved for the best students.
From 1970 until 1994 he was a teacher of “Primo Liceo Artistico” in Turin. He was always interested in the painting of images and after various explorations in the figurative field, in the early seventies he approached, unconsciously, at the American hyper-realism.
His first one-man show was in 1967 at the Galleria Civica Palazzo Centori, Vercelli. After a series of prestigious exhibitions in the United States and Europe, in 1999 he held a one-man show in the Hall of the Columns in the Valentino Castle in Turin, at one time the royal residence and now the seat of the Faculty of Architecture.
In 2002 he exhibited in Monaco MC, in the famous halls of the Metropole Palace in an exhibition organized by the Rotary Club and under the patronage of the Hereditary Prince of Munich.

In the same year a work by Capello was selected for the project “Luci d’Artista, ManifesTO”, an exhibition conceived by the City of Turin, under the artistic supervision of the Gallery of Modern Art and the Castle of Rivoli, in which huge photographs of the chosen works were displayed throughout the city of Turin.
In 2004 the city of Chivasso dedicated to him a retrospective exhibition in the public area of the Palazzo Einaudi, personally introduced by the famous art critic Vittorio Sgarbi.

In following years, in addition to exhibiting in prestigious italians galleries, he has worked particularly in the United States, with the “Gallery Biba” in Palm Beach, who presented him in 2009 at the fair “Art Fire Palm Beach 3” and, in 2010, at “Scope Basel” Miami. He also exposed with the Bernarducci Meisel Gallery in New York who introduced him to the exhibition ” Summer Sweet 2010″
In recent times, in addition to having participated in group exhibitions, he has worked almost exclusively “by commission” both in Italy and abroad.

Recently one of his works is on permanent display at the Museu Europeu d’art Modern MEAM Barcelona – Spain, and M.A.C.I.S.T. “Museo d’Arte Contemporanea Internazionale Senza Tendenze” Biella (Italy) – Copelouzos Family Art Museum, Atene – Collezione permanente arte contemporanea, Comune di Rittana Cn at the Biblioteca Civica “A. Arduino” Moncalieri (TO) – at the Pinacoteca Civica di Chivasso, (To)
Another work is on permanent display at the “Museo Ferrari” in Maranello (Modena), after the exhibition “L’Arte e il Mito” presented, on 25th – 27th February, 2017,at the same museum.
